true. there is this chinese saying that implies that being content with what you already have is the way to go. however, i'm sure for almost everyone out there, including myself, there is always this particular something else that we feel we have to attain. could it be due to social comparison? there is this "oh he/she has it. so i must also have it" mentality. i guess this greener grass theory is part of life. it is perhaps also the motivating factor which spurs us on to improve our own lives. =)

I always have this tendency to compare myself with others, not in a bad way though. Its just a way of telling myself to work harder or i should not give up too soon. When there are times when i feel that i don't own something or not as good as someone, i tend to tell myself that what i have in life at the moment is way more better than those people suffering in other poverty stricken countries. We all should learn to be grateful of what we have and stop comparing.

yup i agree with the grass patch analogy. we always see others as being better than us in every way, even when people around us accept us for who we are. we only see the perfection in others that we envy, but what about the imperfections? instead of constantly comparing ourselves to that classmate/colleague/neighbour who always seems to have everything, why not compare yourself with the cleaning lady at the hawker centre who has to work long hours but is barely making ends' meet? :)
